Swami Dayanand Saraswati laid emphasis on education especially on Female education as he said the education was the basis of uplifting the masses and if the mother was educated then the whole family would benefit from it. Following this the foundation stone of Dayanand Arya Vedic Public School run by Arya Samaj Gandhidham was laid by the auspicious hands of Dr. (Smt.) Nimaben Acharya_MLA Anjar on 5th October 2008. Other dignitaries present included Dr. V H Patel-President Arya Samaj Bhuj, Dr. B F Acharya President Gandhidham Municipality, Shri Srinivasan -Executive Director IFFCO, Shri. Hiralal Parakh-President Indian Salt Manufacturers Association, Shri. Suresh Nihalani-Director SRC Ltd, Seth Kanaksinh Meghji Ashar-Muscat.
The programme began with havan in the morning and then the foundation was laid by Dr. (Smt.) Nimaben Acharya amongst loud chanting of Ved Mantras. Then the guests unveiled the plaque and the children of Jeevan Prabhat welcomed the guests with Vedic Prayer and a song-dance. After which the children greeted the dignified guests with Rose buds.
Shri Purshottam Patel-President Arya Samaj Gandhidham welcomed the guests and in his speech he expressed his confidence that the work of construction of the school premises will be completed in time as the people of not only Gandhidham but India and abroad had faith in the capability of Arya Samaj Gandhidham. Shri Gurudutt Sharma-Chairman School Committee explained in detail about the activities of Arya Samaj Gandhidham. In his speech Shri Vachonidhi Arya Hon.Gen.Secretary Arya Samaj Gandhidham thanked all for coming to the function and said that the school estimated to cost Rs. 4 crores was expected to be completed in a time period of two years but one wing would be completed by June 2009 and Playhouse, LKG, UKG and First standard would commence then. The school would be English Medium & CBSE syllabus. He requested people to join hands for the construction of the school by contributing Rs. 11 lakhs for Founder Membership, Rs. 5 lakhs for Patronship, Rs. 2.5 lakhs for Life Membership or Rs. 1 lakh for Membership. Respected Valjibhai Patel father of Shri Purshottambahi Patel gave the first cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs for this noble cause.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Nimaben Acharya said that Arya Samaj Gandhidham was doing very good work which was noticed not only in Kutch but all over the world. She congratulated the Arya Samaj Gandhidham team and said that there was a requirement of a good CBSE English medium school in Gandhidham and was sure that Arya Samaj Gandhidham would fulfill the expectations. She said that it was sad that in todays education system the child was given materialistic education which left a void in their moral education and she said that she was confident that Arya Samaj Gandhidham would fill up this void. She said that Vedic Culture was the foundation of good education.
Shri. Srinivasan ji said that Education is developing Mentally, Emotionally and Spiritually. He said that importance should be given to culture, heritage and values. Other speakers also praise the step taken by Arya Samaj Gandhidham and expressed their full confidence in the capabilities of Arya Samaj Gandhidham and pledged their whole hearted support.
Shri Vishwapriya Acharya thanked all the guests and said that it was good that the people have shown so much interest in the setting up of this school and invited every one present to come for the opening of the school.
