A project of Child Charity in India run with financial assistance from Arya Pratinidhi Sabha America
The word Arya Samaj and Jeevan Prabhat have now become synonymous with Child Charity in the same way the date 26th has become synonymous with disaster in India. It was on 26th January 2001 that a devastating earthquake hit Kutch in India and left many eyes with tears. Again it was on 26th December 2004 that a wall of water called Tsunami hit the eastern coast of India and again the result was tear filled eyes.
Being an NGO in India working in the field of Child Charity, so when we came to know about this recent disaster we immediately went to Tamilnadu to help our brothers there in their time of crisis. The President of Arya Samaj Gandhidham Shri Purshottam Patel and the Hon.Gen.Secretary Shri Vachonidhi Acharya along with Shri Vimal Vadhawanji (Delhi) rushed there to supervise the initial rescue and relief operations.
After being sure that we would be able to handle a Child Charity project like “Jeevan Prabhat” outside Gandhidham also, we accepted the responsibility entrusted on our shoulders by Arya Pratinidhi Sabha America to construct and run “Jeevan Prabhat” in Pondicherry for the Tsunami affected children. And we feel proud in informing you all that at present we have 28 children under our care in “Jeevan Prabhat Pondicherry”.
The modern complex has been Constructed on 1.75 acres of land in Pondicherry. The complex has been constructed at an approximate cost of Rs. 2 Crores.
Shri Vachonidhi Acharya (Hon.Gen.Secretary) of Arya Samaj Gandhidham regularly went to Pondicherry during the construction of the complex and now visits regularly for management and smooth functioning of Jeevan Prabhat. Staff members of Arya Samaj Gandhidham have also gone and stayed in Pondicherry to oversee the construction work.
We are thankful to Shri. Dev Mahajanji, (President Arya Pratinidhi Sabha America), Dr. Rajinder Gandhi,Shri Shekhar Agrawalji, Shri Girish Khoslaji and Shri Arun Kundraji, who have placed trust in us and have entrusted such a big responsibility on our shoulders, and we in turn assure them that there will be no difference between “Jeevan Prabhat Gandhidham” and “Jeevan Prabhat Pondicherry” as for us both of them are our children. The children in “Jeevan Prabhat Pondicherry” will be treated like our own children and they will get all the facilities to grow up as educated patriotic citizens of Mother India. Just like the children of “Jeevan Prabhat Gandhidham” they are also now National Assets. We have now appointed Shri Ranjan and Smt. Madhu Pandey as caretakers of “Jeevan Prabhat Pondicherry” and are pleased to inform you all that the machinery is now smoothly functioning. The children have now started understanding the value of education and also good morals and have settled into a lifestyle which is a blend of their culture and modern day education.
Along with the children of “Jeevan Prabhat Pondicherry we have also started other minor activities there which consist of Hindi Tution classes, Yoga Classes, Free Tutions for poor school going children and above all a nursery for tiny tots so that the poor working woman has a place where she can keep her child when she goes to earn her daily bread. This year the children from "Jeevan Prabhat Pondicherry" are visiting "Jeevan Prabhat" Gandhidham and will be staying there for five weeks. We will follow the same procedure and send some children from "Jeevan Prabhat" Gandhidham to "Jeevan Prabhat Pondicherry" next year.
We are ready to set up “Jeevan Prabhat” in any part of India which has been hit by a natural calamity so that the children of that part can grow up in their own culture.
